Beach handball is in full swing in Boston. Thanks to the cooperative weather, players of the Boston Team Handball club will be playing beach handball for the 8th consecutive weekend at Revere Beach, this weekend.
Beach Handball is a variation of indoor team handball that is played on sand. Unlike the indoor version, defense in beach handball is with minimal contact. On the offensive end, it can be quite spectacular. Players often attempt to earn 2 points per attack, by scoring goals ‘in style’ – e.g. from an alliup, or after a 360 degree rotation in the air. Needless to say, it is also a phenomenal workout with plenty of sprinting on sand.
Everyone is welcome to drop by and join in on the fun. The beach sessions usually start around 10am and last until 2pm, and the Boston Team Handball crowd is one of the most diverse and welcoming group of athletes you’ll find around.
